Take a Hike – Connect! Rejuvenate!
September 29, 2018 10:00 am PDT
Join with community as we connect with Spirit of Place on a guided hike with our team leader and naturalist, Caren. Take a rejuvenating and informative few hours away from your wifi and cell phones and give yourself the gift of calm, clarity and creative thinking. Rebalance your nature in Nature!
All ages, all abilities and dogs on leash are welcome.
The total length of the hike is approximately 6 km. with options to stop and wait for pickup at the 4 – 4.5 km. mark. This is an easy hiking trail with several opportunities to stop and rest, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
We will be hiking along the lake shore through old growth forest trails, equestrian paths, serene lily ponds and the fishing pier; past the boat launch and then ultimately ending up at the popular Hamsterly Beach picnic and swimming area.
The actual length of time will be determined by the pace of the participants.
We will determine how many vehicles will be needed at the pickup area where the hike will terminate. As this will be a one way hike with cars at both ends, a few of us will go and park over at the Hamsterly Beach parking lot, then come back to the Beaver Lake Filter Beds and start the hike.
What to Bring: We will take short breaks along the way over the duration of the hike, so bring a lunch or snack, bottled water, beverage, etc. Bring a walking stick and camera if desired.
Wear comfortable and sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather, rain or shine. Bring sunscreen and dressing in layers is recommended for this type of activity.
Directions: From Victoria take the best route from your area to Elk Lake Drive. Turn into the park on the main entrance road and drive through past the first two parking lots (the Governor General lot on the right and the larger Beaver Beach lot) on through to the smaller Beaver Lake Filter Beds parking lot. There is a covered picnic area there where we will meet.
Carpooling is recommended.
Washrooms are available at both of the parking lots, as well as the boat launch area at the 4.5 km mark.
Note: There is NO FEE for this hike, but please contact the office and let us know if you plan to join us, or for further information …. Or you can just show up …. see you there!
