Take a Hike – Connect! Rejuvenate!

Join with community as we connect with Spirit of Place on a guided hike with our team leader and naturalist, Caren. Take a rejuvenating and informative few hours away from your wifi and cell phones and give yourself the gift of calm, clarity and creative thinking. Rebalance your nature in Nature!
All ages, all abilities and dogs on leash are welcome.
When: Saturday June 29 / 2019 – 10:30 a.m. start time
Where: Sooke Potholes Provincial Park

Directions: From Victoria take the Trans-Canada Highway 1 North to the Colwood exit. Follow the Island Highway, which becomes Sooke Road, approximately 20 km until you come to Sooke River Road. Turn right and follow Sooke River Road for 5 km to Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. Go past parking lot 1 up to parking lot 2 where we will meet.
NOTE: Carpooling is recommended as parking can be limited.
Washrooms are available at the parking lots.
Hike Details: Sooke Potholes Provincial Park features unique geographic rock formations, rock pools, canyons and a waterfall. Starting from the second parking lot, we will explore several of the hiking trails that meander along the river, close to the shoreline and overlooking the rock pools. Round trip on the trail network is approximately 3 kilometres, are not difficult and take about an hour. Swimming is popular in the rock pools so bring a bathing suit and towels if desired. There are washrooms at both parking lots to change in.
Expect to spend approximately 2 to 4 hours on the hike, but the actual length of time spent will be determined by the pace of the participants.
What to Bring: We will take short breaks along the way over the duration of the hike, so bring a lunch or snack, bottled water, beverage, etc. Swimming is optional, bring a bathing suit and towel. Bring a walking stick and camera if desired.
Wear: Comfortable and sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather, rain or shine. Dressing in layers is recommended for this type of activity. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent when necessary.
Note: Bring loonies as there will be a small parking fee. For more information contact the Open Door Sanctuary office or the Information table after the Sunday Gathering for further information.
