Take a Hike – Connect! Rejuvenate!
September 28, 2019 1:00 pm PDT
Join with community as we connect with Spirit of Place on a guided hike with our team leader and naturalist, Caren. Take a rejuvenating and informative few hours away from your wifi and cell phones and give yourself the gift of calm, clarity and creative thinking. Rebalance your nature in Nature!
All ages, all abilities and dogs on leash are welcome.
Directions: From Victoria take the Pat Bay Highway #17 to the Royal Oak turnoff. Turn left onto Royal Oak and the highway overpass and then turn right onto Elk Lake Drive. Approximately 1.5 kilometres up the road on the left is the entrance to the park. Turn in here and drive through the park past the first large main parking lot at Beaver Lake Beach. Continue on to the second smaller parking lot and the picnic shelter at the second beach. There is plenty of parking. Carpooling is recommended and options for rides leaving from the Inner Quest Centre may be arranged.
Hike Details: this hike will begin with a picnic lunch at the picnic area on the second beach at Beaver Lake so bring a beverage and bagged lunch or snack.
After lunch we will hike around the horse trails and ponds, and in the forest on the shores of Beaver Lake. Off the beaten path and main trails that go around Beaver and Elk Lakes, this hike offers another view of the natural wilderness of this beautiful place, yet the trails are well maintained and easy to navigate. We will spend a couple of hours after our picnic lunch exploring and talking about the natural flora and fauna in the area
Washrooms are available at the picnic area.
What to Bring: Bring a lunch or snack, bottled water and beverage as well as a walking stick and camera if desired.
Wear: Comfortable and sturdy shoes, a hat and appropriate clothing for the weather, rain or shine. Dressing in layers is recommended for this type of activity. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent if necessary.
