Join with community as we connect with Spirit of Place on a guided hike with our team leader and naturalist, Caren. Take a rejuvenating and informative few hours away from your wifi and cell phones and give yourself the gift of calm, clarity and creative thinking. Rebalance your nature in Nature!
All ages, all abilities and dogs on leash are welcome.
Directions: From Victoria, turn left off of W. Saanich Rd. onto Wallace Rd. Follow Wallace Rd a few kilometers until you see the small blue sign Gowlland-Tod Provincial Park on the right, pointing left where parking is available along the left hand side of the road. If you get to the stop sign at Benvenuto Rd. where a left turn takes you to the Butchart Gardens you’ve gone too far.
Meet at the main park entrance where the Tod Creek Dam area is located, across from the blue park sign mentioned above.
Washrooms are not available at this area of the park, but there are facilities at the Tod Inlet Harbour, where we will stop for a snack break before the next part of the hike at McKenzie Bight. We will then drive the short distance up Willis Point Rd to access the parking lot for this area of the park. Washrooms are available here at the main parking lot. There are signs for the trailhead which starts directly across from the parking lot.
Hike Details: This is a guided hike that will be in 2 parts. The first part will be on the Tod Inlet trail, which is accessible to all types of mobility. It is just under 1km each way and is a beautiful trail with overlooks to stop and admire the Tod Creek Waterfalls. The trail is wide and gentle most of the way. Part 2 (optional) of the hike is on the McKenzie Bight Trail, 1.4 km each way. The trail is wide, but does have some steep areas. There is a beautiful creek that runs alongside the trail with a series of small waterfalls down to the beach. The actual length of time will be determined by the pace of the participants.
What to Bring: We will take a short break between the 2 parts of the hike, so bring a lunch or snack, bottled water, beverage, etc. There is a picnic area at the Tod Inlet Harbour that we can use. Bring a walking stick and camera.
Wear: comfortable and sturdy shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather, rain or shine. Dressing in layers is also recommended for this type of activity.
Note: There is NO FEE for this hike. For more information contact the Inner Quest office, by email (email@example.com) or by phone (1 250 383-1012). Let us know if you plan to join us, or you can just show up. Be on time and don’t get left behind …. see you there!
